Parent Local Academy Committee (LAC) Vacancy
Are you interested in becoming a Parent Local Academy Committee Governor?
Stanwell Fields school has its own Local Academy Committee (LAC), consisting of 9 people acting as Governors:
• The Headteacher
• The Parish Priest
• 2 elected parents
• 1 elected member of staff (who cannot be a member of the senior leadership team (SLT))
• 4 other LAC governors, who may be nominated by the school but appointed by the LDBS Academy Trust (LAT)
Board.
All governors are appointed by the LAT Board.
The Chair will normally be selected from the Local Academy Committee members and appointed by the LAT Board.
The term of office for all LAC members is 4 years, and we now have a vacancy. All parents, guardians and carers of pupils attending Stanwell Fields C of E Primary School are eligible to stand. If there are more nominations than places available, an election will be held.
While specialist knowledge or relevant experience is useful, common sense and a willingness to give time are key requisites. You do not need qualifications or professional skills to become a LAC member, but you should read the Job Description attached and consider carefully if you can make this commitment.
If you are interested in becoming a Parent LAC governor, please complete the nomination form attached, ensure that it is countersigned by a valid proposer, and return it to Ms Welch, Headteacher, no later than Friday 7th January 2022.
If an election is necessary, all candidates will be contacted by 1pm on Wednesday 12th January 2022. Candidates will be asked to provide brief statements (not exceeding 200 words) about themselves and a passport-sized photograph. These must be left at the school no later than 3p.m. on Friday 14th January, as they will be made available to voters along with the ballot papers.
